Google and Microsoft have been fighting for this for quite a while. White Space is an unused TV spectrum that could be used to drastically (and cheaply) increase the general public’s access to broadband internet.
To qoute Roger Cochetti, group director of U.S. Public Policy for the Computing Technology Industry Association, the FCC’s ruling will soon make Internet access “appear as common and ubiquitous as air”.
Sounds good to me.
